What is a trampoline tent

A trampoline tent is basically a tent that attaches to an outdoor trampoline mat. Trampoline tents are slTypical Trampoline tentowing becoming a standard accessory for an outdoor trampoline and kids just love them.

Trampoline tents are usually made from 170T polyester, which basically means it water proof. Trampoline tents are currently being manufactured for outdoor round trampolines, I have not yet seen one for square or rectangle trampolines in the UK.

The disadvantage to a trampoline tent is that it can only be used on a trampoline as it has no bottom to it. The tent uses the trampoline mat as the bottom of the tent so unfortunately you cant take the tent when camping (unless you don’t mind sleeping on rough ground )

What tent do I purchase

There are a few things to look for before you make a purchase, the first and most important one is the size of trampoline you have. The bigger the trampoline the more expensive the tent will be, obviously because more material is involved to make it.

Below are some common features that trampoline tents should have:

  • Is It Waterproof – I have never seen a trampoline tent that isn’t waterproof but make sure the one you are considering to purchase is.
  • Is It Fireproof or fire retardant – some trampoline tents are fireproof, make sure the one you are considering is fireproof or fire retardant (most camping tents are fire retardant)
  • How Many Doors & Windows – although this isn’t such an important factor it may be important to find out how many doors and windows the tent has, some trampoline tents have one door whilst others have two.
  • Is It Easy to assemble – an easy to assemble tent is worth it in my opinion, if it not easy to assemble make sure it is shipped with an instruction manual.
  • What is the height of the tent – some tents are higher than others and in general the bigger the trampoline you have the higher the tent will be in the middle. Typically 15ft trampolines are around 7 - 8ft high where as 8ft trampolines are around 4 – 5ft high in the middle.
  • What warranty is provided – I always say that a manufacture that believes in their product will offer a good warranty, look for around “1 years warranty on manufacturing defects on all parts” as standard. If no warranty is offered then avoid.

How much can I expect to pay

If you children like camping out in the garden (and only the garden) and you already own a trampoline then purchasing a trampoline tent is normally worth it as it saves you money. The prices of tents vary depending on size and brand but for a standard 8ft trampoline tent prices seem to start at around £45 up to £75
